PVC AWARDEES

Param Vir Chakra is India’s highest wartime gallantry award. It was introduced on 26 January 1950 with effect from 15 August 1947. It has mostly been awarded posthumously to officers and men of the Indian Armed forces. The PVC is awarded for the highest degree of valour shown during wartime in the presence of the enemy, on land, at sea or in the air.

The 1971 Indo-Pak war witnessed our armed forces fighting bravely, dauntlessly and with unwavering fighting spirit without hesitating even to make the supreme sacrifices. The below-mentioned heroes of the 1971 Indo-Pak war were awarded the Param Vir Chakra for their bravery and sacrifices.
